Dr. Shelley Jones is a physical therapist with over 25 years combined experience in pediatrics, acute, sub-acute, outpatient, women’s health and home care settings. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at University of Hawaii, Manoa. Then went on to study for her Masters of Science and Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Pacific University.
Shelley created Heart Centered Physical Therapy, Ergonomic Yoga and MFR, LLC to assist her clients in learning authentic forms of healing. Shelley has been practicing yoga since she was a child in New Zealand. She learned early on how to integrate yoga into her life for self-healing. She has a passion for making therapeutic yoga accessible to all she has the pleasure of working with. Shelley also has extensive training using the John F. Barnes approach to Myofascial Release and has incorporated her love of MFR and Yoga to provide a unique physical therapy experience and journey to self-healing. John F. Barnes approach to Myofascial Release is a hands-on treatment by therapist and often includes myofascial stretching self-treatment. The body benefits from using a gentle approach to movings tissue. Myofascial release principles are dramatically effective in reducing pain and improving quality of life. This approach to healing is often the missing link in resolving problematic cases of pain and dysfunction.
At the end or beginning of a session, Shelley will often intuitively choose an essential oil that resonates with the emotional needs of her clients. The use of therapeutic grade essential oils in combination with JFB-MFR and Yoga therapy are tools that empower her clients to listen to their own inner wisdom and connect with mind, body and spirit allowing for long lasting physical and emotional balance.
The combination of clinical science blended with holistic Eastern healing methods are beneficial to treat pain and discomfort. This combination is a form of therapy that is both collaborative and integrative and will be personalized for your own specific therapeutic needs.
